A New Name for a New Era
We are celebrating our 110th year in business with a new name: Continuum Architecture.
Our firm was established in 1910 by P. Leonard James, noted for his Steamship Terminal on the Inner Harbour and for the former Post Office on Government Street, renamed P.L. James Place in his honour.
Upon his retirement, the company was continued by Robert Siddall and then David Warner, responsible for many buildings for the University of Victoria and the Provincial Government. The company transitioned to Warner James in 1996 with Tony James and Brian Lord, with major projects at UVic and for the private development industry. A subsequent merger resulted in KPL James with the addition of John Pettigrew to the partnership. Now, as Continuum, the firm recognizes the talents of new partners, Jeremy Beintema and Wil Wiens.
“Our company has always had the partners’ names or initials in the masthead” explains Tony James. “This time, we wanted a name we didn’t have to change again – something that spoke to our strong legacy but with a focus on what’s ahead. We have great confidence in our future, and are looking forward with anticipation to the next 110 years!”
